This is cool. Radio Free Asia has instructions on how to put together an anti-jamming antenna so that a person can listen to RFA in countries where the authorities try to jam the radio signal. The article tells what you need and how to put it together.

Here's a very basic verse of the day-type application that I wrote while playing with Perl and the Tk module. This version is platform independent, ie, it works with Windows, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X, etc. In order to run this under Windows, you must have ActiveState Perl installed and have the Tk module installed. It may already be installed. For Mac OS X, X11 needs to be running with Perl and the Tk module installed. For all other *NIX platforms, Perl needs to be there as well as the Tk module.

Why can’t WordPress make available a “changed files” downloads like phpBB does. Their upgrade instructions are basically a new installation of WordPress minus the database stuff. The upgrade instructions for the latest release consist of the following:

1. Delete /wp-admin/ folder.
2. Delete /wp-includes/ folder
3. Delete all the wordpress files in the root directory where the root index.php file is found. DO NOT DELETE wp-config.php.
4. Download and extract the new version.
5. Upload it to the appropriate folders such as /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/.
6. Upload all the files in the root directory.

That’s it.

Why in the world would I want to naively delete all those files and directories?!?! I have changed files in those directories. As it is now I have to diff the document root directories to see which files changed and manually copy the ones that did over to he server. What a pain.

Well, last Wednesday I went to the specialist (a gastroenterologist). All my symptoms appear to point in different directions. I could potentially have mononucleosis, diabetes, a gall bladder infection, any number of liver diseases or a combination of all the above. If this were a multiple choice exam I might choose gall bladder problems since it’s very easy to remove. In around breakfast, home in time for a lunch you probably shouldn’t eat yet.

Anyway, the doc wrote up a lab order consisting of 20+ different blood tests. Yea! The nurses took out eleven (11) vials of blood. Yea, again! Plus, I won wants behind door number two. A nuclear scan!!! Ding, ding, ding! Actually it’s called a HIDA scan. I’m not exactly sure what it reveals other than gall bladder problems and possibly some liver problems. My doctor’s a very smart guy so I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.

My doctor’s nurse called me this morning to verify the date of my lab work because they haven’t received the results. I told them last Wednesday. They were going to call the lab at the hospital and give them an ear full. Ha! I really wish I would hear something very soon (like tomorrow) because I’m not getting any better, in fact, I think I’m getting a little worse.

Pray for me. It’s been a rough two weeks.

I received this today from the American Center for Law and Justice. This is really a sad attempt to discredit Supreme nominee, John G. Roberts, Jr.

Should activist groups be allowed to fabricate complete deceptions - and broadcast them across America - in order to try to derail the nomination of John G. Roberts, Jr., to the Supreme Court of the United States?

NO!

And yet, that is exactly what is happening.

In another misguided attempt to ‘’smear'’ this worthy candidate, NARAL: Pro-Choice America is running a national ad campaign on television and radio that claims Judge Roberts advocates violent abortion protests because of his involvement in a certain abortion-related case (Bray v. Alexandria Women’s Health Clinic).

Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The very case in question is one that I argued twice before the Supreme Court on behalf of the pro-life demonstrators, and John Roberts argued on behalf of the United States in support of our legal position. I know what happened. I know what didn’t. And today, I am writing to SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!

The NARAL: Pro-Choice America ad is an outrageous distortion of the facts.

The claim: In the Bray case, John Roberts argued in defense of a violent protester who bombed a clinic ‘’seven years ago.'’

The truth: The protests that were the subject of the Bray case were nonviolent sit-ins, reminiscent of the sit-ins of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. The activities that led up to the case were not violent activities at all. In fact, the protests took place in the late 1980s and early 1990s, almost ten years before a clinic bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. Eric Rudolph was recently convicted of that offense, which had absolutely NOTHING to do with the demonstrators involved in the Bray case. We had nothing to do with any acts of violence on any abortion clinics.

John Roberts and I argued before the Supreme Court (not once, but twice) that the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871 did not apply to nonviolent protestors because opposition to abortion did not constitute discrimination against women. We won our case both times with a 6-3 vote. In fact, the Court went out of its way to say that to put a pro-life protestor in the same category as a racist was, in Justice Scalia’s own words, ‘’ridiculous.'’

NARAL: Pro-Choice America’s ad is a complete fabrication … a compilation of random facts that have been cleverly edited but have nothing to do with Judge Roberts or me.

They should be called on the carpet for this. Their ad should be banned! Instead, CNN and others are continuing to run it.

CNN, or any respectable news organization, should not run this ad.

Integrity has been tossed out the window with this ad.
