Free Mac?

Filed under: What was I thinking?! — Larry @ 12:30 am

Well, I came across this site that says that I can get a free Apple product. I chose the Mac Book Pro. I couldn’t help but wonder if this thing would really work so I signed up.

So, what do you say? Would you like to help me out while getting your own Mac product? :)

Here we go again…

Filed under: Technology — Larry @ 1:17 am

Here comes yet another patent infringement headline. AT&T has started threatening companies in order to license it’s MPEG-4 technology. AT&T is targeting companies such as Apple, CyberLink, DivX, InterVideo, and Sonic Solutions as having unlicensed products that use their technology.

Just what the world needs: more software patent lawsuits.

More Gas Woes?

Filed under: News — Larry @ 12:40 am

The United States buys a lot of oil from Venezuela. In fact, they are fifth in the world in oil production and our third largest supplier.

Ever hear of a little oil company called CITGO? I’m sure you have. You guessed it, owned buy the Venezuela state owned oil company PDVSA.

Why am I telling you all this? Well, it seems that the US doesn’t like the current administration in Venezuela. The Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, has been saying some very nasty things and is in cahoots with Fidel Castro and Bolivian President Evo Morales (a socialist).

The tensions are rather high in Venezuela. They kicked a naval officer, whom they accused of spying, out of the country and in response to that, the US expelled the chief of staff of the Venezuelan embassy in Washington. Tit for tat, I suppose.

Who knows for sure how this will end but one thing’s for sure: if diplomatic relations break down between the two countries, gas will definitely increase to levels we have yet to see.

Yahoo! and Jail Time

Filed under: News — Larry @ 10:43 am

It appears that Yahoo! has done it again. They have released information to the Chinese government that led to the arrest and conviction of a journalist.

They need to pull completely out of that country and base everything out of the US. Then the Chinese government would have to abide by our laws to obtain information. Google and MSN need to learn a few lessons from this outrage.

To make matters worse, an MSN search for “Li Zhi arrest” returns nothing.

Troops Anyone?

Filed under: News — Larry @ 10:36 pm

It wasn’t just me that noticed only one mention of our troops overseas:

Personally, I think it was intentional. And what was with Aaron Neville and Aretha Franklin? They were allowed to totally mess up our national anthem. It really reminded me of Roseanne Barr’s “attempt”.

Jihad Watch

For those of you who haven’t found this site yet, check out Jihad Watch.

From their website:

Jihad Watch is dedicated to bringing public attention to the role that jihad theology and ideology plays in the modern world, and to correcting popular misconceptions about the role of jihad and religion in modern-day conflicts. We hope to alert people of good will to the true nature of the present global conflict.

It’s a good site for reliable information!

Cartoons and Cussin’

I don’t know about you guys but I’m both surprised and sick to stomache over the whole Mohammed cartoon fiasco. Yeah, yeah, I know I’m about to come across as being “intolerant” and “insensitive” about the whole thing but I’ve had enough. I would you guys to decide for yourselves.

Here’s a link to the 12 “forbidden” cartoons.

Here are some of the reactions to those drawings.

What do you think? It sure doesn’t make me want to convert to Islam.

Now, to be fair, I did come across this apology website. It seems heart-felt and genuine:
